The General Labour Inspector (IGT) from the Ministry of Labour may authorise a working permit for an under-14 child in some cases, as defined in the Labour Code: if the child is an apprentice, if extreme poverty makes the child’s income indispensable for its family, if the work is light in duration and intensity and under the condition that the work does not impede with compulsory education (UCW 2003).
